Hello there! My name’s Connor. I’m a writer based in Brooklyn. Nice to meet you.
A bit about me: I’ve worn many hats over my relatively short career in media. Currently, I’m the Social Media Manager for Ars Technica where I handle both the day-to-day as well as the long-term social strategy for the publication, a role that requires a mix of writing and creative problem solving. Since I started there in 2021 I’ve taken on a number of audience development related responsibilities ranging from creating graphics in PhotoShop to launching new newsletter properties and even doing a bit of Google Analytics and SEO-related projects.
Before that, I served as an Associate Editor for the now-shuttered publication CentSai, where I did a bit of reporting on the ins and outs of personal finance. During that time I was also the Managing Editor of the music publication The Deli NYC, one of New York’s original music blogs.
I’ve written about music in a professional capacity since 2013, and my work can be found in a number of outlets including Pitchfork, FLOOD, Impose Magazine, Bedford + Bowery, AdHoc and Alt Citizen. In 2020 I started the project LOCALBOPSNYC, a KPISS.FM radio show and podcast spotlighting the best independent music the City has to offer through carefully curated playlists and artist interviews.
If you couldn’t tell from this long-winded intro, I really, really like music. I started booking shows in college when I was volunteering with MY school’s radio station (WRGW FOREVER) and never stopped despite my best intentions (in fact, I continue to organize and promote shows big and small under the LOCALBOPSNYC brand). I also love to DJ and perform/produce under the nom de artiste Connector.
that’s about it! thanks for reading my whole bio. you can see some of my work via the links in the header. as a treat for scrolling all the way down i’ve included hyperlinks to some stuff i think is neat (that i think others might find neat too).
